We’re thrilled to offer our friends and supporters the best seats in the house for The Symphonic Jazz Orchestra’s 15th Anniversary Concert on May 7. Ticket sales have just opened – and make a great holiday gift! Grab the best seats now, before they go on sale to the general public next month.
This one-of-a-kind celebration, which will take place at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, will open with a work by George Duke and feature two exciting world premiere works by Alan Chan and Gordon Goodwin, featuring saxophone soloist Eric Marienthal.
We’re offering a $100 VIP ticket that helps support our work! This ticket includes a pre-concert reception with the soloists at 6 pm, preferred seating and a complimentary SJO CD, for $100 (a $30 tax- deductible donation). Just choose to view the seating chart, then select the red seats when you check out.

This Year, the SJO is Bringing Music Education to 165 classrooms!
We are thrilled to have expanded the reach of our Music in the Schools program! The SJO is now bringing much-needed, year-long music education to 11 schools in LA County, working in neighborhoods like Watts, Compton and Long Beach. This means we will reach over 3,600 students each and every week, with our dynamic music program which integrates and enhances students’ understanding of math, reading, science, history and creative writing.
On behalf of the students and communities we serve, thank you for making this possible! Special thanks to the Thelma Pearl Howard Foundation and the Esther Kahn Foundation for helping us reach more students.
Kicking Off Our 15th Anniversary Year with a Private Concert
On Saturday, we were thrilled to throw a private event with jazz singer Jane Monheit and pianist Bill Cunliffe. This was the first in a series of events to celebrate the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra’s 15th Anniversary, as we strive to reach 5,000 students each year through our “Music in the Schools” residencies.
